If you have ever played Ocarina of Time, you have probably wondered one question: Will Ganon be back? It just so happens that Ganon's imprisoning in the Dark Realm did him a lot of good. While in his jail, Ganon forged a dark army powerful enough to overcome the Seven Sages. His minions were clones of himself and were just as powerful as the dark lord himself. But Ganon's main new powers were nine dark wizards, called the Shadow Sages. The sages were duplicates of the Seven Sages except for one thing. The Shadow Sages used darkness, malice, and hatred as their energy souces. The Shadow Sages created a new portal to the world of Hyrule and soon were engulfing the land once again.............................
NOTE: Link does NOT have the Master Sword in this fic.

***Chapter 1: Link's Discovery***

Link awoke to the beautiful face of his wife. "Hello, dear,"she said,"Did you sleep well?" Link smiled. "Yes, very much so." He got out of his bed and headed over to the table to find a warm plate of bacon and eggs, courtesy of Saria. He sat down and started to eat, when he saw a familar light flying toward Link. "Navi? Why are you here?" Link asked. Navi flashed a light and said," Princess Zelda sent me. Link, this is urgent. Ganon's back!" Link spat out his orange juice. "What?!?" He choked. Navi urged Link to follow. "There isn't much time. Ganon's soldiers are heading for Hyrule Castle!" Link jumped up, grabbed his quiver and bow and sped out the door. "I'm coming with you!" Called Saria. Link motioned for her to get on Epona and they headed for the exit to Hyrule Field. They arrived in a eerily dark field and hid behind a large bolder. Link whispered to Epona and the horse nodded and headed toward Lon Lon Ranch. "We won't be needing her for a while, I want her safe," said Link. Saria nodded and crouched down beside Link. "What's that?" Asked a terrified Saria. Link looked in the direction she was pointing and saw a huge mass of Ganon's soldiers heading toward Hyrule Castle. "We must stop them," whispered Link. Saria nodded and watched as Link silently drew his bow and readied an arrow. "I'm not going ot stand by and watch," said Saria as her hand ignited in a green magic flame. Link aimed his arrow and shot the largest minion he could see. The arrow hit the soldier in the eye and he fell to the ground in a bloody heap. The warriors turned and looked for the source of the arrow. A soldier spotted Link and Saria due to the  glow of Saria's magic fire. They charged at the two and a panick-stricken Link whispered to Saria, "run". They ran across the grassy field firing arrows and fireballs in a frenzy. The soldiers roared a battle cry and ran after them. A few fired flaming arrows at Link and landed inches away from him. Link suddenly felt a strange but forceful urge come over him. "Senku Epa!!!" He yelled uncontrollably. In a flash of light, two swords appeared in Link's hands. Soul Blades, he thought. Link looked at the approaching onslaught of soldiers and smiled. He ran toward them, ready to fight. Then, another urge came over him. "Tenchi Dren!" He yelled. Link suddenly transformed into a new link, Soul Link His tunic had changed from cloth to a layer of gold armor. His hair went to a silver blonde and his swords glowed a yellow hue. "Are you ready for this, minions? Called Soul Link. The warriors growled in response and ran even faster toward Soul Link. Soul Link just stood and waited, then out of nowhere, he flew up into the sky and came down in the middle of the crowd of soldiers. His powerful blow blew the soldiers down instantly. Soul Link put his swords up into a cross and he returned to his normal state. "What was that all about?" Asked Saria. "I don't know", responded Link, "But I think it was the Seven Sages".

***Chapter 2: Intro of the Shadows***

Saria and Link approached Hyrule Castle with caution, and by the looks of it, some of Ganon's minions had already reached the castle. Link recited the familar line, 'Senku Epa'. Link guarded Saria with the Soul Blades as they crossed the drawbridge into Hyrule Market. What Saria saw in Hyrule Market devastated her. Innocent Kokoris were stuck on wooden stakes, screaming as their skin was scorched by fire. "Saria", Link said soothingly, "I'm going to find the person who did this, and kill him." Saria nodded as a few tear drops ran down her cheeks. "Wait," said Link,"the Temple!" Saria and Link rushed up the steps to the Temple of Time and  found the remains on what used to be it. Link gasped and ran inside the ruined temple to find a different portal than the one that brought Link to his adult self years before. The portal had something engraved above it in Orcish: 'The Shadows will Reign'. "Saria closed her eys and contacted the other sages. She opened them after a few moments, and said," We can't go in their. It's to the Dark Realm." Link stepped back from the portal, knowing the Hero of Time would die in the Dark Realm. "We must get to Zelda," said Link. They ran out of the "temple" and headed down the path to the castle. As they arrived at the gates,a dark figure greeted them with glowing red eyes and a black cloak. His face was covered except for his eyes. "Your last adventure ends now, Link," he boomed. Link responded confidently. "I'm sorry, you must have mistaken me for a failure." Link then whispered quietly, "Tenchi Dren". He tranformed again, into Soul Link, his eyes glowing an erie white. When he spoke, his voice echoed powerfully. "Ganon will once again fall to me. This is your last chance to move." The figure laughed menacingly. "You aren't even scratching Ganon's plan. Trust me, kid, this is way over your head."  Link swung his Soul Blades in a circle. "I don't think so." And so it began, the Shadow Sage attacked Link with a deadly blow, but Link dodged it in an instant. Link preformed an arial move and landed in front of the Shadow Sage, both of his blades pushing against the Sage's.
"Am I scratching your surface yet?" Asked Link sarcastically. "Not a chance," yelled the Shadow Sage. The two fought for what seemed like hours and neither warrior showed a sign of tiring. "Link, you know you can't beat me", said the Shadow Sage,"Give up now and I won't kill you." Link smiled and faked a stab to the sage's torso, then flew up and cut him in half. Before the body fell it said,"Link, you have been introduced the shadows, you shall die".

***Chapter 3: The Arrival***

Link and Saria finally arrived at Hyrule Castle and not suprisingly, the castle was back to Ganon's Castle. It had the same dark black walls with steel spikes on the top and a lava pit below. Link headed across the same familiar bridge, which the Seven Sages had made. They were about to enter the castle, when the familiar laugh filled their ears. Link growled. "Ganon", he said. They entered the dark path to Ganon's chamber. Instead of the two Beamos guarding the door, two Shadow Wraiths (of no relation to Shadow Sage) stood. Link drew his Soul Blades and prepared for the warriors to attack. The wraiths drew swords and laughed shrilly. "Goodbye Hero of Time." The wraiths charged at Link, blades extended. Link froze with fear, he couldn't move. At the last possible second, Saria threw a green fireball at the Shadow Wraiths, saving Link's life by centimeters. The wraiths' long cloaks caught fire, causing them to shriek in terror. The fire soon rose up to their flesh and a smell of burning skin took the air. They ran around, not knowing what to do, until they let out a murderous scream and died. Link looked at Saria, who was terrified of the incident. "Let's go Saria," Link said quickly. Link and Saria entered the main chamber and instead of the usual shield blocking the path to Ganon's chamber, their was nothing. Link shrugged and took Saria's hand, directing her to the door. Saria unwillingly followed Link as they headed to the steps that lead to the Dark Lord's chamber. After hours of walking up the spiral stairs, Link and Saria finally made it to the top. They stood in front of the door to the Dark Lord's room, not sure to go in or to go home. Link gulped and entered the room with Saria taking up the rear. Ganon was not on his organ, but floating above the floor, waiting. He laughed again, in the same evil tone. Link showed his newly aquired Soul Blades and swung them around, just to show their power. Ganon, instead of throwing energy balls, drew HIS sword. The blade was long and sharp and had an oval tip. Link had a feeling he was outmatched. Then he remembered. He looked at the overside of his hand. There was the Triforce of Courage. Link's hand glowed. Ganon showed his hand. He had the Triforce of Power. Link and Ganon exchanged dark glances and stood. They each had the same feeling;unconfidence.

***Chapter 4: Ganon vs. Link: The Ultimate Duel***

Ganon and Link finally attacked after one of Saria's purposeful coughs. Link got the first blood. Ganon had thrown a powerful swing at Link, who had no time to dodge and took the attack on the arm. Link held his arm with pain. He's going to kill me, I know it, thought Link. Link tried his best to fight with one arm. He finally threw the other Soul Blade to Saria, who didn't know the first thing about sword fighting. Link had a strong bond with Saria, so strong that he could send her mental messages. Throw it at the back of his head, he told Saria. She nodded, but before she threw it she added a green flame to the tip. Saria concentrated and threw the blade as hard as she could at the gerudo king's head. The blade was driven through the Dark Lord's head and the tip came out of his mouth, covered in green blood. He screamed loudly and fell to the blood-stained ground. Link kicked the lifeless body and walked over to Zelda, who had been imprisioned in a crystal the whole time. Link sliced the crystal open and grabbed the unconscious princess. "Let's go Saria", said Link, "This place is not safe for her. We must take her to Malon on Lon Lon Ranch". They were about to exit when the wall behind them exploded. Link spun around to find all nine Shadow Sages. Their swords were unsheathed and pointed upward. Link gave Zelda to Saria. "Take her to Malon", said the Hero of Time, "They seem to hold a grudge on me and it's time I showed them what I can do." He grabbed a Soul Blade and walked to Ganon. He pulled the Soul Blade out of Ganon's throat and ran at the Shadow Sages. As he jumped into the air, he yelled a familiar line. "TENCHI DREN!!" Instead of a blonde Link landing on the ground, the whitish-blonde Soul Link landed, blowing three of the of the edge of the tower. The other six backed Link very close to the edge and were about to push him off. Link closed his eyes. He did not want to see his death.

        ***Chapter 5: Link's Replacement***

Suddenly, Link heard someone slaughtering the Shadow Sages. Link still didn't want to open his eyes, but was relieved at the sound. (weird) Link finally opened his eyes after the screaming ceased and found a warrior that weilded the Master Sword. "Who...who are you?" stuttered Link. The warrior looked up and bowed to Link. "Ah, such an honor to meet the first Hero of Time", he said, "Excuse me for not introducing myself before saving you, I'm Sabe." This person confused Link. "Wait, I'm the only Hero of Time," Link said. Sabe laughed a little and said,"You must not have lstayed awake long enough to listen to the sages in the Temple of Time. Every century, one new Hero of Time replaces the aging one. I am your replacement. Even though I do not have a Triforce, they still consider me the Hero of Time". Link could not believe that the sages would do such a thing. He went back to his normal state and sheathed the Soul Blades. "Good luck, young one", said Link as he left the room. Link headed for the exit to Hyrule Market and called Epona with her song. He mounted her and rode to Lon Lon Ranch to find Zelda, Malon, Talon, and Ingo. No Saria. "Where's Saria?" Link asked Malon. Malon smiled. "She went back to the Temple of Time an hour ago. She said the Sages called her." "Did she say what they said?" Asked Link. "Umm...something about a new hero," said Malon. Link frowned. So she was in on this he thought. Link left the ranch and mounted Epona again. He rode accross the Hylian plains and entered Kokori Forest. He told Epona to come back before dark, but she could go to Gerudo Valley.

My next story, Legend of Zelda: Rising Hero will follow the adventures of Sabe, as he learns to be just as good as Link. Instead of training in Hyrule, the sages send him to Termina to train with the Skull Kid.
