Forest Temple - Ocarina of Time

Kakariko Graveyard

After you have seen Sheik in the Temple of Time, after seven years have passed, make your way to Kakariko Village. Exit the Temple of Time and you will notice that the Hyrule Market has been destroyed, by the evil of Ganondorf. Walk to Kakariko Village, then walk to the Kakariko Graveyard, to the right of the windmill. Once in the graveyard, walk to the left and pull open the grave on the left with some flowers in front of it. There will be an opening underneath the grave. Jump in the hole and walk forward, to see Dampe, the gravekeeper. Dampe will challenge you to a race. Accept his race, and follow closely behind him, while dodging his fire balls. If you fall too far behind, you might have to start over again. Once you make it to the finish of the race, Dampe will reward you with his treasure, the hookshot. Now leave the room, through the door behind the treasure chest. Play the Song of Time in front of the large blue block. The blocks will disappear and you can now climb the steps ahead, to reach the upper level of the windmill floor. There is a heart piece on one of the wooden ledges to your right, which you can get by jumping to the center rotating ledge, then jumping over to the heart piece. Jump down and exit the windmill through the door below. Now head to Kokiri Forest, where you started the game. Once back in the forest, you must make your way to the Lost Woods. Right when you enter the forest, walk forward then to the left to find some vines on a wall. Climb the vines and walk to the entrance of the Lost Woods, to your left. Inside the Lost Woods, go right, left, and right again to find Mido, who is guarding the entrance. Play Saria's Song to him and he will let you pass. Once in, go straight, left, then right to enter the Sacred Forest Meadow, where you met Saria. Enter the maze ahead, while using caution and looking out for the Moblins guarding the maze. To hit the Moblins sneak up behind them or from around a corner, and use your hookshot to hit them. If you come into their sight, they will charge at you. Once you have made it to the stairs, you will find a very large Moblin. Dodge its shockwaves from its club hitting the ground, and walk past the Moblin. To defeat him, use your sword and strike him from behind. Continue up the stairs and you will find Sheik. Sheik will teach you the Minuet of Forest, so you can play it again to return back to the Sacred Forest Meadow. After Sheik leaves, use your hookshot on the tree branch over the platform, leading to the Forest Temple. This will pull you up to the entrance of the Forest Temple.

Forest Temple

  • Gold Skulltulas to find: 5

Inside the Forest Temple, walk forward and you will encounter two wolfos. Destroy the Wolfos, then climb the vines on the wall to the right. Watch our for the Gold Skulltula at the top of the wall, and make your way to the left. Climb onto the top of the tree trunk and walk the branch. Use your hookshot on the small treasure chest on the opposite tree branch. Your hookshot will pull you to the chest and you can open it to find a small key. Jump down to floor level, then enter the door. Defeat the large skulltula in the hallway with your hookshot, then continue to the next room. In this room, you will find four poes on top of four torches. They will disperse into different parts of the temple, and an elevator in the center will go into the ground. You can later use that elevator to reach the boss. This large room is the main room of the temple. Now continue going straight, and up the stairs opposite to where you came in. You will notice a Gold Skulltula on your right wall, before the next door. Go through the next door and defeat the blue bubble in this hallway. Defeat it by deflecting it with your shield, then striking it twice with your sword. Continue to the next room, where you will find two Stalfos. Destroy both with your Master sword and Hylian Shield. After defeating them, a small treasure chest will appear, containing a small key. Now go back to the main room and walk to the room on your right, where there is a large blue block blocking the door. Play the Song of Time and enter the door. Walk to the right and climb the vines on the wall. First, destroy the skulltulas on the vine wall, then climb up to the opening on the right, where there is a door. In this room, defeat the blue bubble to get a chest with the Dungeon Map.

Forest Temple Balcony.jpg (10899 bytes) Continue through the next door, and you will be on a balcony. Use the hookshot to pull yourself to the opposite balcony, using the white hook above the balcony. Press the red switch down on this balcony, draining the water from the basement in the courtyard, then jump down to the courtyard below. Make your way to the opening of the basement, where the water was just drained. Jump down and walk to the exit at the opposite end. Along the path, there will be some hearts and water to your right. Follow the path to where a small chest is. Open the chest to get a small key, then climb the wall with the vines on it, to your left. Climb out of the basement and walk to the right, to where a door is leading back inside. Now back in the main room, walk to the right and climb the stairs to find a locked door. Open it and continue through the hall, defeating the large skulltula. Go to the next room to find another blue bubble. Destroy it, then climb the wooden stairs in front of you. At the top, walk to the left, then left again to find a hallway with yellow painted arrows on the floor. Now grab the large green block to your left, and pull it back towards you, then push it toward the direction of the arrow. When it won't move anymore, go around it by walking to the left, then right, and right again. Now grab and push the block, until it fits into its place in the floor. Now go back down to where the green block was originally. Climb the wooden stairs there and walk to the right, then right again, to find a large red block. Push the block forward as much as you can. Now go back to where the green block is now. Climb the green block, then the next ledge to find a hallway blocked by the red block. Push the block forward, until it fits. Climb the red block, walk to the right, then climb the stairs to find a room with two blue bubbles and a locked door. Enter the door to find a twisted hallway. Jump the platforms in the next room and open the locked door on the right. Now continue forward, walking down the stairs, to the next room. In this large room, you will be confronted by a Stalfos. Beat it, then a platform will come down, with 2 more Stalfos. Defeat them to earn a large chest, with the Fairy Bow inside.

Now that you have the fairy bow, go back to the room with the red carpet underneath the door, the last room you were in. In this room, you must sneak up on the red poe, hiding in one of the 3 pictures on the wall. Hit the poe in the picture with your fairy bow. After getting all 3 pictures, go downstairs to fight the poe. Use your shield to block its spinning and hit it when it stops spinning. After beating it, it will return to its torch and a chest will appear, containing a small key. Now go back up the stairs and backtrack to the entrance of the twisted hall, with the two blue bubbles and the eye switch. Hit the eye switch on top of the door, with your bow, to make the hall untwisted. Follow the hall, then jump down into the next room, where you will find a blue and yellow chest with the Boss Key inside. Jump into the hole next to the chest, to find a room with two blue bubbles. Defeat them, then enter the next door. Now walk to the right and defeat the large Deku Baba. You'll also notice a ledge to your left with two hearts. If you walk on the ledge and collect the last heart, you will hear a Gold Skulltula above you. After you've beaten the Deku Baba and collected the Gold Skulltula, continue to the next room, on your right. It is to the right of the room straight ahead. Inside is Floormaster. Strike it with your sword, when it is on the ground, to make it fall into 3 pieces. Destroy the 3 pieces to get a chest to appear with another small key. Exit the same way you came in and walk to the right, to get to the next door. Jump down and make your way to the door before the twisted hallway. Hit the eye above the door to twist the hallway again. Now make your way to the room where you got your Fairy Bow, and continue through the next door with the blue carpet underneath the door. Defeat the blue poe in this room just as you did the red. Once defeated, you will earn a large chest with the Compass inside. Now continue up the stairs to find a locked door. Enter it, then make your way to the right, to find a straight hallway with two green bubbles. Follow the hall to the next locked door. In the next room, jump onto one of the rotating platforms and use your bow to shoot an arrow through the torch and hit the ice block, surrounding the eye switch. Once you've hit it, the ice will melt and the switch will activate, twisting up the previous hallway. Now leave the room and go through the twisted hallway, into the next room, where you can jump into a hole in the ground, to land in a new room. You'll land on a room with a checkerboard floor and a falling ceiling. If you go to the hall on the right of where you land, you'll find a door leading to a Gold Skulltula on a balcony in the courtyard. Now to get to the next room, you must walk across the checkerboard floor, while the ceiling isn't moving or falling. Make 2 stops on your way to the door across the room. Head to the gold switch on the right first, then when its safe, go to the small chest ahead, then wait for the floor to fall and go to the door. Through the door, you'll find a large picture, with the green poe in it, on Forest Temple Puzzle.jpg (16425 bytes)your left. Hit the picture with an arrow. 5 Blocks will fall to the ground and you will have a minute to assemble them, like the picture was. Once you have put the 4 picture blocks together to form the picture, the green poe will appear. Defeat it like you did the red and blue, then continue through the next door. Defeat the large skulltula in the hall, then continue on to the main room. There, you will find the last poe, the purple poe. When you approach it, it will split up into 4 different poes. Then they will start spinning around you. Only one poe is the real one, which is the one that spins around before circling you. Defeat that poe by using your hookshot or Fairy Bow to hit it. After a few hits, it will go back to its torch and the elevator in the center will come out of the ground. Jump into the elevator to head down to the basement. In the basement, there are blocks attached to the walls. You can push and pull them, to spin the walls of the room around. Spin the walls of the basement to find 3 switches. Once you have pushed all of the switches, you can enter the Boss's Lair. In one of the rooms you will find a gold skulltula. Once you have pushed the last switch, walk the hall towards the Boss door and enter.

Phantom Ganon

Walk to the right and up to the arena. Walk to the center of the arena, then try and leave. A gate will come up and Phantom Ganon will appear. To defeat Phantom Ganon, hit him before he comes out of one of the surrounding pictures. Hit him right when he tries to get out of the picture. After you have hit him 3 times, he will get off his horse and start throwing lightning attacks at you. Send them back at him by reflecting them with your sword. Once he is hit and falls to the ground, walk over to him and strike him with your sword as much as you can. Repeat this until Phantom Ganon has been defeated. Once defeated, you will receive a heart container. Pick up the heart container and enter the portal to the Sacred Realm. You will meet with Saria, the sage of the Forest. She will give you the Forest Medallion. You will then be transported to Kokiri Forest, in front of the new Deku Tree Sprout. He will reveal that Link is actually a Hylian, not a Kokiri, and that you must find all the remaining temples.
