Latest Details:

In IGN's hands on the Phantom Hourglass Japanese version of the release, they reveal that Link has crashed onto yet another island with nothing but a tunic and a fairy to help you around. Finding the sword will allow you into the first town and so forth, much like the game and dungeon design in previous Zelda games. In the world built around the Wind Waker graphics engine combat is controlled with the tap of swipe of the stylus, while objects can be tapped on to be picked up and tapped again to throw. The whirlwind attack can be performed by drawing a quick circle around Link with the stylus. Sequences such as the opening scene, as well as boss battles incorporate both screens making for more engaging gameplay.

In November issue of German magazine N-Zone, Phantom Hourglass designer Eiji Aonuma gave some new details on the story. "PH is often called a sequel of TWW - that's not fully correct, as it merely makes use of the same graphics style". He also revealed that there will be no story connection between Twilight Princess and Phantom Hourglass.

Game Features:

bulletTo attack enemies, pick up items, just tap the stylus on the enemy/item.
bulletThrow the boomerang by drawing a path for it to follow.
bulletThe upper screen is used as a map and is incorporated into boss battles
bulletThe map can be pulled down to the bottom screen to write notes

Official Synopsis:

Many months have passed since the events of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and Link, Tetra and Tetra’s band of pirates have set sail in search of new lands. They come across a patch of ocean covered in a dense fog, in which they discover an abandoned ship. Tetra falls into danger when she explores the ship alone, and Link falls into the ocean when he attempts to rescue her. When he washes up unconscious on the shores of a mysterious island, he is awakened by the sound of a fairy’s voice. With the aid of this fairy, he sets off to find Tetra – and his way back to the seas he once knew.
