The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker Characters

Link returns in an all new adventure, the Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Link is the main character as he is in all the Zelda games. In the Wind Waker, Link is celebrating his 12th birthday in a small fishing town on Outset Island, with his sister Aryll, and his grandmother. Link and animals.jpg (4710 bytes)His Grandmother gives him his tunic for his birthday, and later, the Hero's Shield. It is customary to dress young boys in the green of fields, once they come of age. Once his sister Aryll is kidnapped by a large bird, Link sets out on his journey to save his sister from the Forsaken Fortress.

Aryll is Link's sister. On Link's 12th birthday, she is kidnapped by a large bird named The Helmarog King near the summit of her home on Outset Island. Aryll gives Link her telescope for his birthday, her most precious belonging. The watchtower overlooking the Great Sea from Outset island, is Aryll's favorite place to gaze out at the sea. Aryll, like many other girls with pointed ears across the regions of the Great Sea, have been kidnapped by the large bird, and brought to the Forsaken Fortress.

As Link's grandmother, she is well aware of the Legend of the Hero of Time. The Grandmother looks after both Aryll and Link at their home on Outset Island, since Link and Arill do not have parents to look out for them. Link's Grandmother gives Link his tunic and the Hero's Shield to start out his journey to save Aryll.

Tetra.jpg (4182 bytes)Tetra

The captain of a pirate ship and leader of a band of pirates, she is discovered by Link after she is dropped into a forest by the Helmarog King, the large bird. Tetra and the her fellow pirates roam the sea for treasure. Upon her landing in the Forest of Fairies, Tetra is saved by Link, and later guides Link to the Forsaken Fortress to recover Aryll. Although she is a pirate, she will discover that she is actually someone of great importance.

A Large bird that unsucessfully captures Tetra, but manages to capture Link's sister Aryll atop Outset Island. The Helmarog King nests in the Forsaken Fortress, commanded by a mysterious person at the top of the Fortress.

 

Sturgeon.jpg (4380 bytes)Sturgeon

A wise, old man who resides on Outset Island. Although grumpy at times, he has a lot of knowledge about the world, including basic knowledge for your quest. 10 knowledgeable pages on your quest are tacked to the wall of his residence, all based on his research. Sturgeon lives in on the second floor of a house, with his brother Orca below.

Quill is a mail carrier who travels from island to island delivering mail. He hails from Dragon Roost Island, where the Rito tribe resides. Quill and his tribe are very concerned over Link's situation, and will help as much as they can. However, the tribe has problems of their own, dealing with the great dragon Valoo, who sits on the summit of Dragon Roost.

Orca lives on Outset Island, in a dwelling just below his brother Sturgeon's, and is always ready for a good fight. Upon Tetra falling into the forest on Outset Island, Link can train in the way of the sword with Orca. Orca gives Link the Hero's Sword to look for Tetra. Orca also reveals the secrets of the Knights Crests later in Link's journey.

Beedle.bmp (42498 bytes)Beedle

Beedle is a shopkeep of his own shop, Beedle's Shop Ship. He offers good prices on goods, and his shops are located all over the Great Sea. It is very usefuly for Link to buy some of the goods in Beedle's shop, such as a Bait Bag, Hyoi Bear, or some All-Purpose Bait. Later in his journey, Link will find a masked Beetle out in the Great Sea, who will offer even more rewarding goods.

These are the other inhabitants of Link's home of Outset Island. From left to right-Mesa, Joel, Sue-Belle, Zill, Rose, and Abe.

As the Chieftan of the Rito tribe of Dragon Roost Island, the Chieftan must deal with all the problems of the tribe. The Chieftan, as well as the whole tribe, helps Link on his journey to save his sister, in return for his help. The Chieftan's primary concern is of the great dragon Valoo, who has become ill-tempered. The Chieftan also requests Link to help build courage in his son, Prince Komali.

Prince Komali, is the son of the Chieftan of the Rito Tribe on Dragon Roost. Like every Rito who reaches adulthood, he must somehow journey to the top of Dragon Roost to receive a scale from the great Valoo, so he can grow wings. However, the great Valoo has become unpredictable, and ill-tempered, and Prince Komali lacks the courage to receive the scale from Valoo. Upon the journey to Dragon Roost, Link must find a way to solve Valoo's problem and strengthen Prince Komali's courage. Prince Komali holds in his hands Din's Pearl, given to him by his grandmother, who used to be Valoo's attendant, and the only one on the island who could understand Valoo.

Valoo is the great spirit of the skies, who resides on the peak of Dragon Roost Island, above the Rito Tribe. The once gentle Valoo has grown unpredictable and ill-tempered because of some disturbance on the island. Link, with the help of Medli, journeys to the top of Dragon Roost to defeat the monster disturbing Valoo.

Medli is the soon to be attendant to the great dragon Valoo. Being able to understand some of the great Valoo's language, Medli is determined to go to Dragon Roost, with the help of Link. As Link's journey progresses, Medli will be awakened by a song conducted by the legendary Wind Waker, and she will realize her true self.

Despite his appearance, Zephos is the powerful god of winds. Link summons Zephos for the first time at the Wind Shrine on Dragon Roost Island. Zephos also has a brother, Cyclos, who torments people because of his broken statue, next to Zephos'.

Great Deku Tree.jpg (4775 bytes)Great Deku Tree

The Great Deku Tree is a familiar character among the legends of Zelda. As the great spirit of the Earth, The Great Deku Tree resides in the Forest Haven with his children, the Koroks. The Great Deku Tree helps Link in his journey after Link is able to recover one of the Koroks, named Makar. As goes the legend, 100 yrs. ago, The Great Deku Tree began as a small sprout.

As the children of the Great Deku Tree, the Koroks are peaceful creatures who reside around the Forest Haven. Long ago, the Koroks took on human forms, but took these shapes when they came to live on the sea. From left to right- Irch, Oakin, Rown, Hollo, Linder, and Olivio.

Mr. Fishman.jpg (4468 bytes)Fishman

As a paintbrush-wielding fish, Mr. Fishman and his related siblings are quite knowledgeable of the Great Sea and all of the islands. Fishman is able to fill out a section of Link's Sea Chart at a time. Fishman also gives helpful hints about the islands and certain events.
